“Whole Lotta Shakin Going On”

“Whole Lotta Shakin Going On” Jerry Lee Lewis sang in “Whole Lotta Shakin Going On”,…We got the bull by the horns…. We ain’t fakin’ ……Whole lot of shakin’ goin’ on….Do you have the power of the Spirit of the living God “shakin” in your life?

THERE’S A WHOLE LOTTA SHAKIN GOING ON…Acts 4:30 “And when they had prayed, the place was shaken.”

God has a way of shaking things up in our lives, even when we are walking close to him. How does that happen? It happens when you can see a God that is greater than your circumstances, larger than your troubles and you know he is on your side and at your side. That changes the equation.

Acts 16:26-27 Luke says the prisoners were listening to them. They had never seen anything like this. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. All the prison doors flew open, and everybody’s chains came loose. The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. Why would he do that? Well, in the ancient prison systems, the jailor’s life was forfeit if his prisoners escaped. Every guard, every jailor knew it. He went to bed that night, he was in charge of all the prisoners, and everything was locked up and secure.

But at midnight God shook his world. The earth moved, and the jail fell apart. He knew it was all over. So he was going to die like he lived – a tough guy. He reached for his sword. From inside Paul saw it and called out to him. “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!” The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” Acts 16:28-31 Lets us look at the circumstances

God had shaken the earth, and he was afraid…God had collapsed his jail, and he wanted to die…But what shook him most of all was that Paul and Silas didn’t run. That was when he saw it…The prisoners were singing God’s praises. The guys inside the prison were free and the guy outside was the captive. When God shakes your world, He lets you know that the old way of living isn’t working. Paul replies to the jailer. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”I love the preposition, ‘on’. To believe ‘on Jesus’ is to make him your foundation. Solid ground under your feet, to move your whole life onto him. The change was immediate. We are told that very night he and his whole family heard about Jesus. There is God’s ‘household’ promise. Just a few minutes earlier his life was over. His family was gone. Now, he is about to get it all back, all new. He brings Paul and Silas home with him, and the whole story comes out.

• About who was free and who was the captive

• About how this jail of a tough and hard and mean life didn’t have to be his life, not anymore…

• And about this Jesus who could open prison doors – any prison doors and make captive men free…

And the whole family moved that night, moved their lives onto Jesus, Even at that hour of the night, the jailer cared for them and washed their wounds. Then he and everyone in his household were immediately baptized. He brought them into his house and seta meal before them, and he and his entire household rejoiced because they all believed in God.

Acts 16:33-34 I want to remind you that when God reaches for you, he reaches for those near and dear to you. And that he can open the doors to any prison, break the chains of any captive…

Maybe you have a member of your family out there…

 • Remember if God’s promise is towards you, it is towards them…When he reaches to you, he reaches to them; God works in groups.

• Remember that this is the God who will rock the earth to reach a heart. No one is beyond his reach..Maybe you are out there…

• He can open the doors to any prison, break the chains of any captive…

When Jesus said “It is finished”, the whole world shook….We can still shake the world with the message of His Gospel Lord teach us THE power of prayer, and of praise, that the shekinah (glory) comes forth. Some say, I praise God inside. I tell you that if there is praise in your heart, your mouth cannot hold it in. The world around us is tired of seeing people playing church; they want truth and reality; they want to see people who have the living Christ within praying and seeking God until the place they are at and all those around them are shaken.

  1. Amen, Bro. Darrell, the Lord it seems has been bringing some of these same thoughts into my mind. I am reminded of that scripture that says if the righteous be saved, where will the sinner and ungodly appear. We as the body of Christ need to start rending our hearts and not our garments. Jesus Christ is on His way and it seems that what we know as church and where we are supposed to meet together to worship God has turned into A Den Of Thieves. There is still some praying saints, yes, there is still those who love God with all their hearts, yes, But when the Body gets together in Unity of the Holy Spirit of God, Then we will see that whole lot of shaking going on. It seems like even in the churches like the Bible said would happen in the last day. Good would be called, evil and Evil would be called good. When we humble ourselves before God, then He will restore our steps. He will not suffer the righteous to see corruption. Again I said to much. But I pray that God will richly bless you for being bold and giving the true Word of God. Blessings Nedia

    • I was looking up the original artist of “Whole Lotta Shaking Going ON” and instead I discovered who really made the earth move under their feet, and create the reason for the song. Thank you God!
