Heaven Can Wait

HEAVEN. If you have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, it will be your final, glorious destination. But there’s a life to live “down here” in the meantime, so Heaven will have to wait. There are many people living without any real sense of purpose or joy. While this world is full of heartache, God still wants us to be a light to the world, his children of faith and hope.

In Matthew 25 Jesus tells us

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’  ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

While Heaven will have to wait until our appointed time to be there, we as Believers are to be the helping hands of Christ to a lost and dying world.

There are some other things that we can do here on earth while we await our heavenly destination. We have many things that we are in possession that could be used to brighten the life of someone showing Christ’s love. Truthfully, when we arrive in Heaven, we will find that none of our earthly possessions will arrive with us. We should let go of our grip on some of our things early and both be a blessing to others, and receive blessings from God as we give.

You don’t need to start big and give away the family car. We need to give as unto God, and not give things that are broken or worn out. We should give to others in need because they need it more than we do. The less tightly we hold on to our possessions, the more we will learn to have a cheerful giving heart, and long for Heaven while being a blessing and blessed here on earth.

If you lost something valuable to you, I am sure that you would look everywhere until you found it. But many times in life we are so heavenly minded that we misplace people dear to us. Have you ever said to yourself, “I wonder what ever happened to so-and-so”?

As a representative of Christ here on Earth, invest in your future joy by making contact with your friends from your past. If you can’t find their number, search their name in an Internet search engine. Once you’ve located your long-lost friend, make contact and share treasured memories. You can share with them about what’s happened in your life since the last time you saw them. It is always exciting to reconnect with friends, and maybe you can be the hand of God reaching out to them in a time of need. It will only take a small amount of your time to invest yourself in the future of your friend. Don’t lose out on that investment. Reach out now, while heaven waits, to your friends here on earth.

Before you get to heaven, look inside of yourself at anything preventing you from opening your hands and your heart to others. Go to the Lord in prayer. Ask God to bring situations into your life that will allow you bless others and to be an extension of His love and mercy here on Earth. Ask God to place in your heart and spirit the desire in love to be an effective witness here on Earth as you await Glory. As His Spirit works in you, be heartfelt and sincere, as you are reaching out as an extension of your Heavenly Father.

Do all you can to be of service here on Earth. Heaven can wait. And as you wait as a bridegroom for Jesus to return and receive you unto Himself, be all you can be as His light here on Earth.

Heaven awaits and there will much joy and rejoicing in Heaven. Remember that Heaven not made with human hands, it will never wear out, its inhabitants too vast to number, it is made of streets of gold, and has walls made of jasper.

In Heaven there are no hospitals, no cemeteries, no prisons, or metal institutions. In Heaven there is no crime, no pollution, no hurricanes, no tornadoes, floods, or earthquakes. Heaven is a wondrous place where there is no sin. It is a place where war, hatred, prejudice, crime, disease, and punishment will not be found. Heaven is a place without sorrow, sadness, tears, fear or death. Heaven is a place where we will know the love and joy of God forever.

Does your earthly body sometimes ache? In heaven, we will all receive a new body. Disease, pain and suffering will not be found. No more cancer. No more heart disease. No more arthritis. Missing Limbs will be restored. Eyes blinded will see. Deaf ears will hear.

We will all be reunited in Christ with our departed loved ones—parents, sisters, brothers, grandparents, and friends from years past.  Heaven will be a grand reunion for the redeemed.

In Heaven you will find yourself amazed at who is there, who is not there, and joy in the fact that you are there.  So while Heaven awaits you, do all you can do to be a voice crying out in the wilderness of this world, proclaiming the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
