Do you feel Alone, Desperate, Frightened?

Life is difficult sometimes, always has been….always will be. There are many times in life that I have felt deserted by God, but it wasn’t Him…it was me. Many times I asked God why He was being unfair to me….Many times I asked God if He cared for me. Many times I went through a rough time and I cried out and felt alone. Have you been there? Sure you have, we all have felt alone, desperate, frightened, but I want you to realize this: We serve a God who rescues His children.

Daniel felt alone, desperate, frightened….

Daniel felt alone, desperate, frightened as he was offered up as the main course for the king’s lions, for disobeying the king’s decree. There were men in the king’s cabinet that did not like Daniel. So they got together to find some old scandal or skeleton in Daniel’s life that they could use against him, but they couldn’t dig up anything. The Bible says that he was totally exemplary and trustworthy. They could find no evidence of negligence or misconduct, so they cooked up a scheme to make the king decree that for thirty days no one was to pray to any god or mortal except the king. Anyone who disobeyed would be thrown into the lions’ den. When Daniel learned about the decree, he continued to pray just as he had always done. So he became the main course for the lions in the lion’s den. But God sent his angel, who closed the mouths of the lions so that they would not hurt Daniel. The king ordered Daniel taken up out of the den. When he was hauled up, there wasn’t a scratch on him. In the face of what the world would consider certain death Daniel had been delivered. Why? Because his faith was in God.

Joseph felt alone, desperate, frightened

Joseph was thrown into a well and left to die by his jealous brothers. They then changed their mind and sold him into slavery.  Joseph spent many years in as a slave. He was wrongfully accused of a crime and put in prison for thirteen years. Eventually, after these humble years, he was exalted to a position of honor with the ruler. Through these bad and good times, Joseph learned to be happy where he was and be the best person he could be with what God gave him. In the face of slavery, beatings and imprisonment Joseph was delivered, and became a ruler over Egypt. The Word tells us that in spite of it all his troubles,  God was with him; whatever he did God made sure it worked out for the best.   Why? Because his faith was in God.

Moses felt alone, desperate, frightened

God had provided an escape for the children of Israel from Egypt from slavery. But in that escape they were being hunted down by an army.  Moses knew that they were facing danger and could be killed by Pharaoh’s soldiers. When God lead the children of Israel out of Egypt, God told Moses to camp near the Red Sea.  God knew that Pharaoh would chase after them if he thought they were trapped between the wilderness and the sea.  When the children of Israel saw the army with chariots and horsemen approaching, they panicked and were afraid. But Moses knew God, and he cried to God for help. God told Moses to go forward but that meant going into the sea!  Now that would be rough. But remember, Jesus tells us in His word that with God all things are possible. Moses lifted his staff, and God caused the wind to blow so hard that the waters were divided.  There was a wall of water on each side as the children of Israel hurried through on dry ground.  When Israel was safely across, Moses stretched out his hand and the sea closed up and drowned the army in the sea.  With this miraculous parting of the Red Sea, God provided an escape for Moses from Pharaoh’s army. Why? Why? Because his faith was in God.

Jesus felt alone, desperate, frightened

The Bible tells us that Jesus was captured by Roman soldiers in the garden. Jesus was severely thrashed and whipped, beaten and made fun of by the Roman soldiers before they put him to death. A crown of sharp thorns was smashed into his head. They hammered nails through his hands and feet to the cross and left him to die. The stuck a spear through his body. They took away his clothes and bet to see who would keep them. He was crucified with common criminals. The crowds and religious leaders said a lot of bad things about Jesus as he hung on the cross. It was a terrible thing that happened at Golgotha, but unlike the men above there is a different reason. Why? Because God believed and had faith in you.

God knew we would have it rough. Just like Moses, Daniel, and Joseph felt alone, desperate, frightened He knew we would endure the same. So He, being our God came to earth in human form as Jesus Christ our Lord to be punished and to die as a sacrifice for our sins. Having knowledge of this, we are not to be as the blind of this world; we are not to be like some people who think Jesus doesn’t matter and the whole thing with the cross is foolish.

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

1 Corinthians 1:18

Our Lord took away our sins that day, and gave us the power of God. He took on the sins of the whole world, of everyone that ever has or ever will believe on him by faith. A supernatural darkness covered the whole land for three hours at midday just before Jesus gave up his spirit. The powers of darkness must have thought they had won. But as dawn came on the first day of the week, the tomb was empty and Jesus had risen from the grave. And the world has never been the same.

Sometime because of problems we do not trust God. We seem to lose our faith. Sometimes it seems that He is not working on our behalf, but He is. There are times when it really sucks and believe you me, I have been through those many times and my faith has wavered, but I have really learned to trust Him and not lose faith as I have seen Him working behind the scenes in ways, that at the time I thought was to my bad instead of my good. But it the end things worked out better, my faith was increased and He was glorified.

But as bad as it has been, I have never been fed to lions; I have never been thrown in a well and left for dead. I have never been sold in to slavery or been chased by armed soldiers wishing to put me to death as I stood unarmed.  Yet when life sucks, it just sucks…You just have to trust Him, He will do for you, just like He did for Joseph, Moses, Daniel, and just like He did for you on Calvary.  You can trust Him, because He died for you; that ought to let you know His intentions for you.

You think you are losing faith, you’re not. It’s OK to question, put Him to the test….LET God be true in your life. He wants to deliver you. Let Him perform His will, His way. Many times I was peeved me off at Him at the time when I was facing hardship, and I thought He wasn’t hearing my cries for help. But when all was said and done, I finally saw what He saw and realized what He knew all along was good for me. I couldn’t see it at the time, but He could.

So when you feel alone, desperate, and frightened, just trust….Life is more than a short journey…He sees the long haul for us…Sometimes all we can see is today…Trust….When it really, really sucks the most is the time you need to really, really trust Him. Trust, because you can’t fix it yourself, or you wouldn’t be in a place where it is so bad for you in the first place. That’s what I have figured out in my life. Things will work out for your good I promise you….. Let Him make the memories and write the chapters in your book of life! Look to Jesus finish it for you…

Because He endured the cross, and is the author and finisher of our faith. Hebrews 12:2 ……Trust in God.

  1. Good message Bro Darrell, I felt like that Sunday Morning at around 2:00 A.M. When I got a call from my Daughter’s friend to come to the ER that my daughter had been beaten and she was really bad. The first thing that entered my mind was the worst [She had been killed] but I picked up the phone even though I felt that way and called & told our Pastor the situation and for them to pray. Yes, I was scared nearly to death and was crying and shaking, but I trust in a God who will never leave me nor yet forsake me. When I got to the ER my daughter was standing there waiting on me and all she got, though sort of rough looking was a broken nose and a black eye. I had rather her have to go through the pain of a broken nose and bruises, than to see her life gone. Thank God I will always trust in Him.

  2. I love reading your posts! Today’s was just what I needed to hear about keeping “the faith”. You have a real talent for saying what the rest of us are feeling and we need those “boosts”! I thank God for you and your talents and love for Him!!!! Hope your week is spectacular!!!

  3. Colossians 3:17

15-17Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.You have really touched my heart and i feel inspired so much.

  5. I Pastor Benard .Nyakebere. Mose from East Africa Kenya in a ministry called Christian Mobile Clinical Gospel Outreach Ministry sending you all greetings to you in the name our Lord Christ. we need and request for your kind attention towards this. We are very knee on evangelism. We reach many people through Gospel meetings, crusades fasting & praying and house visiting through Christian Mobile Clinical Gospel outreach Ministry . I have special burden for perishing youth and love for the little children. Though we are financially helpless we still helps the destitute and widows and orphans by providing some LOCAL HERBAL medicines and garments and food. We opened a door for a new and heart touching ministry of visiting AIDS & HIV patients. Large numbers of people are here suffering due to lack of proper food and clothing and medication are left to fate. Truly when I see these people, my heart is rendering. They have no food for days together; they have no strength to knock the door-to-door begging food. Some are in desperate mood to attend even for nature of calls. we have no words to say about these people unless we look at them. People like us need to come forward to their rescue. God laid great and heavy burden on us to work among these desperate people. We therefore have taken up this greatest burden; meeting them, preaching and loading them in Gospel. But we seek your help and support in this matter, as we have no capacity to meet their need. In this connection we swear to the fact that every offering receive from the ministry and friends always best utilized and spent for these poor children and orphan and old aged people and HIV patients. God provided us all comforts for which we pray God immensely. We therefore request you to kindly pray for these neglected and uncared poor children and widows, old aged people and HIV/AIDS patients believing them as your parents and children. We shall send you report regularly where the service is conducted supported with pictures for prayer. Your love and offerings to this service is much more needed. With the entire burden we have we are not asking for anything but only desires that you visit the ministry and see it yourself. We can arrange some special public meetings and Pastors conferences so that you can personally talk to them to know the true condition of our ministry Pastors. A lot is to be done for God and the extension of His Kingdom. Kenya East Africa is a free country and God’s grace is abundant on this country. The field is ready to be harvested and it is waiting for God’s “Servants.
