Sometimes we are in the midst of challenges and trials so deep that we wonder if we will ever get our head above water. Many times as we face extreme difficulties in life we feel deserted by God. We feel that God is being unfair to us. As we doubt, we asked God if He really cares for us as we cry out to what we feel are deaf ears. Have you been there, in despair? Sure you have, we all have desperate and frightened, but I want you to realize this – We serve a God who rescues His children.
Jonah was desperate and afraid
The prophet Jonah was rescued from a near-death experience. He found himself in the midst of a sea storm on a ship as he was running away from and disobeying God. The men on the ship realized that the storm was from God and that if they threw Jonah into the sea, the storm would cease. Barely surviving the fury of a killer storm, things went from bad to worse for Jonah as he was thrown overboard and swallowed by a huge fish. However, God miraculously rescued him. From inside the belly of the fish, Jonah prayed, God heard His cries and rescued him as he realized salvation comes from the Lord. Why? Because he trusted in God.
Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego were desperate and afraid
King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon erected a huge statue, made of gold in the region around present day Iraq. He had a dedication ceremony to this image and ordered that everyone had to bow down and worship it. The consequence for not worshiping the idol was execution in a fiery furnace Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego defied King Nebuchadnezzar. They courageously disobeyed the King who had threatened to throw them into a fiery furnace. They were willing to die rather than deny their God. The Bible tells us that the men who put them into the fire were consumed by the heat. As the king observed them, they were standing in the fire, and it did not harm them as he observed a fourth person in the fire with them. They were not harmed and not even a hair on their heads was singed, as it was Jesus Christ himself standing there in the fire with them rescuing them for danger. God saw their faith cries and delivered them. Why? Because they trusted in God.
Daniel was desperate and afraid
Daniel felt alone, desperate, frightened as he was offered up as the main course for the king’s lions, for disobeying the king’s decree. There were men in the king’s cabinet that did not like Daniel. So they got together to find some old scandal or skeleton in Daniel’s life that they could use against him, but they couldn’t dig up anything. The Bible says that he was totally exemplary and trustworthy. They could find no evidence of negligence or misconduct, so they cooked up a scheme to make the king decree that for thirty days no one was to pray to any god or mortal except the king. Anyone who disobeyed would be thrown into the lions’ den. When Daniel learned about the decree, he continued to pray just as he had always done. So he became the main course for the lions in the lion’s den. But God sent his angel, who closed the mouths of the lions so that they would not hurt Daniel. The king ordered Daniel taken up out of the den. When he was hauled up, there wasn’t a scratch on him. In the face of what the world would consider certain death Daniel had been delivered. Why? Because he trusted in God.
Jesus felt alone, desperate, and afraid
The Bible tells us that Jesus was captured by Roman soldiers in the garden. Jesus was severely thrashed and whipped, beaten and made fun of by the Roman soldiers before they put him to death. A crown of sharp thorns was smashed into his head. They hammered nails through his hands and feet to the cross and left him to die. The stuck a spear through his body. They took away his clothes and bet to see who would keep them. He was crucified with common criminals. The crowds and religious leaders said a lot of bad things about Jesus as he hung on the cross. It was a terrible thing that happened at Golgotha, but unlike the men above there is a different reason. Why? Because God believed in and had faith in you.
God knew we would have it rough. But as bad as it has been, we have never been fed to lions; we have never been thrown into a fiery furnace. We have never been cast overboard in a storm and swallowed by a huge fish. When things are bad and we are desperate and afraid is when we have to trust Him the most. He will do for us, just like He did for Jonah, Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego, Daniel, and just like He did for you and I on Calvary. We can trust Him, because He died for us, in doing so He made His intentions crystal clear- He is our only rescue and only salvation.
Jeremiah 1:8 – Do not be afraid – For I am with you and will rescue you declares the LORD.
If you think you are losing faith, you’re not. He will deliver you. Let Him perform His will – His way. If you find yourself angry at God as you are facing hardship, and feel like He is not hearing your cries for help, be assured that the stories of the great rescues found in the Bible can happen in your life too. Trust Him. You may not see at the time, but when all is said and done, He will deliver you, and you will realize that it was all for your good.
So when you desperate and frightened – TRUST . . . Life is more than a short journey. He sees the long haul for us. Sometimes all we can see is today, He sees all our tomorrows – TRUST . . . When it is really, really bad is the time you need to really, really trust Him. Trust, because you can’t fix it yourself, or you wouldn’t be where it is so bad for you in the first place. Let Him rescue you, as you trust Him to guide you to all the tomorrows in your life. Look to Jesus to deliver you and shine His love upon you and fill you with peace. Trust. We serve a God who rescues His children.
May the Lord bless you and protect you; as He makes his face to shine upon you and is gracious to you; as He shows you favor and gives you His peace. Numbers 6:24-26

We have to post so much negativity that is going on in the world in relation to end time events..and believe me..there is so much..TOO MUCH…that it is like a breath of fresh air and a load being lifted to find something positive that is good and wholesome and pure.
That is why I am always looking for more devotional contributors to the Vine. We are getting 20,000+ views and then some, not counting Facebook, Twitter, Before It’s News, and Alt News views… just as much as people need to see that they need to repent because time is short; and, those who don’t believe need to see that the Bible is correct by seeing the news in relation to Bible prophecy, which oftentimes results in repentance and salvation.. people need to be uplifted as well.
You have to have that balance. The Bible as a whole shows God’s love, God’s forgiveness, and God’s judgment…and God’s love in His judgment, which leads to repentance… just as the Bible shows this, we must have that balance too.
If you ever know anyone interested in writing devotionals as often as they are able, let me know. I am, again, looking for more devotional writers. It’s also great publicity for your own blog as well. If people read you and like you, they come and check you out.

Why do we need to understand the chastisement of the Lord? It’s because through chasetisment, (iribulation-Romans 5:1-6) do we go from sinner to righteous. Carnal to spiritual, Lost to saved! Ungodly to godly, Gentile to Jew, uncircumcised to circumcised (In the heart!)
Rom 3:28-31 KJV
(28) Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
(29) Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:
(30) Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision “”””by faith””””‘, and uncircumcision “”””through faith.””””””‘

Thank you Darrell, your message speaks volumes of the fear so many experience today, God gave us the gift of Laughter, sadly many have lost it in their sin and fear, most are believing Satan’s lies. Yes we have to repent of sinfulness but not our weakness and shortcomings, Wow I would be on my knees all day, that is if I could get down that far 🙂
It is very True though, many don’t know the difference and believe they are the worst of sinners but of course we all are, we have indeed fallen short of the glory of God and sinned, some of course are still sinning but they say they are forgiven regardless of what they do but when their reminded of God’s guidelines, they know they are not at peace. Others condemn themselves even though they are innocent, we have been set free and we need to reckon ourselves dead to sin and choose to walk in righteousness and God will empower us so we can.
I was going through a very hard time in my life not so long ago, it was a very turbulent Storm and God gave me the Scriptures below… it is so True as you shared Darrell, we never go through our Trouble and suffering alone and many times we are refreshed and strengthened so we can endure and then wonderfully even during the hard times we experience deep inner Joy…God walks right up to us and hugs us or was it you, Thank you Darrell for a wonderful message.
Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. Sometimes I do get afraid but when I do I feel Jesus,the Father and Holy Spirit with a cool breeze that come across my face then I know that whatever I may go through I have Their ever precence in my life. TRUST THE BIBLE OR MEN?
Do you want trust your salvation to the teachings of the Scriptures or do you want to trust your preacher, pastor, priest, creed book or the opinions found in Bible commentaries?
THE BIBLE: He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (KJB)
The Bible does not say, he that believeth shall be saved and then should be baptized as testimony of his faith.
THE BIBLE: Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. (NIV)
The Bibles says, and is baptized will be saved. It does not say was saved the minute they believed. Will be saved is future tense not past tense. Saved after belief and water baptism; not before.
THE BIBLE: ….who believes and is baptized will be saved…. (NLV)
THE BIBLE: Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved…(ESV)
THE BIBLE: …has believed and has been baptized shall be saved… (NASB)
THE BIBLE: Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved… (HCSB)
THE BIBLE: Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved.. (ISV)
THE BIBLE: …who believes and is baptized will be saved.. (NB)
THE BIBLE: He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved…(ASV)
THE BIBLE: Whoever trusts and is immersed will be saved…(CJB)
THE BIBLE: He who has believed, and has been immersed, will be saved… TBVOTNT)
These translations of the Bible are quoting Jesus. Who do want to trust for your salvation?
What some preachers, pastors, and priests teach?
1. Water baptism is not essential for salvation.
2. He that believeth and is sprinkled or poured shall be saved.
3. Men have no responsibility to believe because God gives them the faith to believe and therefore they are saved by grace alone.
4. Water baptism is a good work and therefore is not be necessary for salvation.
