Life is not always easy. In fact, much of the time life is difficult. Being born again does not put an end to life’s troubles. The way of the cross is not always an easy path to follow. Yet many of the churches and ministries that call themselves “Christian” would have us believe that accepting the blood of the Lamb is the end of all of our troubles, but such is not the case.
It takes work and daily commitment to glorify God with our lives. We must humbly seek God and allow His success to become our success in all aspects as believers in Christ. In our service to the message of the cross we must become an instrument that shares His mercy and His love. As an instrument sharing grace we will begin to realize that all the knowledge and the skill belongs to the Operator, not the instrument.
It is easy for some instruments of God to become proud. It is all important that we keep our perspective. It is wonderful and blessed to be in God’s hands, used for His purpose and His glory. We must always keep in mind that the instrument deserves no special glory. Without the hand of our Master we are useless and can carry out nothing of ourselves. We cannot take one ounce of credit for anything God has accomplished through us, as we are His vessels.
Jesus said that our attitude should be: So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, “We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.” Luke 17:10
Many times it is easier to handle failure and disappointment than it is great success. When we find ourselves insolvent or impoverished, it is easy to recognize our own needs, and the necessity for God to intervene on our behalf. Many who enjoy great success and wealth are persuaded that they no longer need God’s help, and they believe that they alone are responsible for their own good fortune.
In humility we must always remind ourselves that God is the one who accomplishes all things.
So if there are great things happening in your life, please be reminded that all blessings and success come from God alone. We need to always realize our reliance upon Him. When we meet with success and prosperity, be must be thankful in humility before God and man. Enjoy, and rejoice in all that God has done in your life, and be aware of the fact that you are never in charge, He is.
We are but mere vessels in service to the Lord to carry out His purposes; and it would be as absurd of us to boast that we are responsible for the blessings in our life. It is only in the hands of God, when we are directed by His unseen arm that we are able to carry out His perfect plan for our lives.
We are but instruments in the hands of the Master; all credit, all honor and all glory belongs to Him and Him alone. We are instruments of God and our lives are a beautiful melody in His name played by the blood of Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:29 No one may boast before God.
