The Real Truth About Sin -Inspiration From the Bible

John 10 10 Abundant life - GraceSin will always deceive us. Sin will deceive us into believing that its version of happiness is more attainable that it really is. It will destroy our lives, and the lives of our children. It will rob us of our dignity and honor, and leave us believing that all is lost.

Sin teaches us how to do things the wrong way, making us deceitful and spiteful, and leading us to believe the worst in our fellow-man. Sin will cause us to be envious of our friends, and to covet our neighbor’s spouse. Sin will cause us to become dissatisfied with our job, leading us to believe that we are undervalued by our employer, and entitled to much more.

Sin will cause us to believe that God is not there for us in our times of need and cause us to doubt that our Creator even exists. Sin will take away our peace and replace it with its sorrow. Sin will take the comfort of our own home, and turn it into a war zone. Sin will cause us to believe that our spouse is not worthy of us, causing us to look elsewhere for affection. This will lead us to become unfaithful, which in turn will destroy our marriage.

Sin will cause us to take the heroes of our faith, which are the patriarchs of God’s Word and replace them with trashy celebrities that draw our attention and admiration. Sin will lead us to fill our time with useless activities that will leave us with no time at the end of the day to spend with God.

Sin will cause us to believe that we are unworthy of grace, and lead us to strive and work to make ourselves worthy of God’s mercy. Sin will lead us think that we are too smart to believe that the stories of the Bible are true, teaching us to rationalize our own truth through the world’s eyes.

Sin will teach us to believe that heaven is a fairy-tale and that hell is a lie, leading us to believe that the here and now is all we have to look forward to in our life.

But I am here to tell you in no uncertain terms that God is real, He is the truth and that sin is a liar. God’s mercy is given freely to all those who will believe, and that you will never be able to earn it. Grace will bring you comfort, happiness and a life eternal with your Creator.

So the next time you find yourself in a bad way in life, be careful and listen to who’s whispering in your ear, because sin wants to take away all that God has provided for you in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 36:1-4 Sin speaks to the ungodly within their heart; there is no respect for God their eyes. Sin flatters them in their own eyes, concerning the discovery of their iniquity and the hatred of it. The words of their mouths are wickedness and deceit; they have ceased to be wise and to do good.

John 10:10 The thief (sin) comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that you might have life, and that you might have it more abundantly.

If you don’t like the word “sin” then replace it with its longer name; rebellion. For that is truly the root of all our troubles – our own willful rebellion toward our Creator’s purpose for our life and all creation.

  2. Great summary on the harm sin brings and the blessings grace bestows! Thanks, Darrell.

  3. This is perhaps one of the best written pieces I’ve read about the ever present danger of sin in our lives.

  4. Yes Darrell very True and this is why as the Scriptures below confirm we need to seek to be perfected in Love, not by the flesh but in the Spirit and through Him, putting, our flesh to death (Romans 8 :12-15-Colossians 3:4-6 -Galatians 5:24 -26) which causes us to sin.

We remember too and give thanks that what Satan because of our sinfulness has torn down, Jesus can restore and for this we rejoice, all things work together for good when we Love God and so by His foreknowledge of our hearts repentance we are chosen to be conformed into the image of Jesus.

Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect.

Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

2 Corinthians 7: 1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting Holiness in the fear of God.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

2 Timothy 2:19-21 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are His. And, let every one that nameth the Name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the Master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

1John 4:17-19 Herein is our Love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in Love; but perfect Love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in Love. We Love Him, because He first Loved us.

2 Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in Peace; and the God of Love and Peace shall be with you.

But I would also value your Prayers greatly Darrell for my Ron, he has been diagnosed with Cancer, he had more tests today and I’m waiting to hear from him, I will do an update tonight. As I shared with some, it is harder to know that your Loved ones are suffering than when you suffer yourself.

Sin saps our faith, our hopeand gives endless pain and sorrow. Everyone should be reminded to turn from sin and its consequences. Your blog does this beautifully, Darrell.
May I remind my friends on my blog?
