But by the grace of God I am what I am – His grace toward me was not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:10
But by the grace of God I am what I am. I exist only because of the mercy of God. What I have is to be linked to His righteousness by the blood of the New Covenant He shed for me on Calvary. It has nothing to do with any goodness of my own or anything that I possess. All my hopes of heaven; all my energies; all my success in life; all my virtue; all my blessings in life are because He lives in me. Everything I am and will be is only by the mercy and grace of God.
There will be times when we give out; we are spent, desperate, and on the brink of exhaustion. Sometimes it is emotional, other times spiritual. We will find ourselves where all our strength is all gone. We might find ourselves in sickness, or in sorrow, even on the brink of death. It is then we must cry out, “But by the grace of God I am what I am”. We must know who we are in Christ. Christ is our strength always – He is the sole object of our love and trust. It is on Him we must rely on for our strength. When we reach out to Him, He will answer us without hesitation. We can know with entire confidence, that we can believe and rely on God and He will be our strength.
But by the grace of God I am what I am. We are chosen vessels of salvation, not by our works, nor by our statement of faith, not by our holiness, but only by His merciful grace. In our carnal flesh we should carry humble opinions of ourselves, for it is only through Christ we are exalted. When we in our sin are redeemed we become more than conquerors as we can do ALL things through Christ which strengthens us. Philippians 4:13
Born in sin, we are changed by His by Divine grace, and turned into the faithful redeemed of the Lamb. As true believers in Christ we need to be fully aware of what His precious blood has accomplished in our lives. We need to be fully aware of our obligation to the cross and let our conduct and lives reflect the goodness of our Lord. When we believe upon Jesus Christ and Him crucified and resurrected we have an understanding of the power of that resurrection as He fills our lives with His glory. This is our creed, this is our purpose; this is who we are.
Acts 17:28
‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
I am weak, He is able
I am spent, He is my strength
I am empty, He fills me
I am sin, He is my salvation
I am in pain, He is my comfort
I am a slave, He has set me free
I am poor, He is my wealth
I am shame, He is my glory
I am a loser, He is my victory
I am fading, He sustains me
I am sorrow, He is my joy
I am doubtful, He is my certainty
I am desperate, He is my solution
I am lost, He has found me
I am nothing, He is my everything
Every one of our lives has a story; our Redeemer’s blood is the ink in the pen that writes the script for our lives.
